Vincent from Houston set up a trip for himself and 5 of his buddies for Wednesday Feb 16. Vincent has been out with me before when he brought along his son-in-law Jon Runyon (#69 Philadelphia Eagles) and some of his Titan pals (all of which started out Houston Oilers). We left out at 0600, all excited about the great weather condition and the great chance at some tuna. We never saw a shrimp boat to get cull from so we headed for the rocks. We were about 31 miles off when we saw a really nice rip forming. It had a lot of bait on it and the birds were feeding too. Great color change...gotta fish it...right??? We dropped over a couple of ballyhoo and it wasn't long and Vincent nailed a nice dorado. We danced around on the rip for another 45 minutes, I guess, and 4 more dolphin were landed. Strange we never saw any wahoo. Oh well, off to the rocks. We hit Eastern, Aransas, and Hospital which brought up one shark and one beeliner. Screw this! Back to the rip! The sun came out and the action got really great this go-around. We ran out of ballyhoo but these poor ole dolphin were starvin' so they hit featherjigs, sardines, and about anything you sent them. These weren't your regular chicken dolphin either. Nothing record breaking but some really nice fish. The guys ended up with 26 of them for a total weight of 138 pounds. Wish I were invited to dinner, huh? Capt Tom
